Most schools are about to break up for their 6 week summer holiday before the new term starts in September. You may have decided to spend some time visiting local attractions and having some day trips across the country but what travel options are available?
Megabus advertises that their fares start at as little as £1 and travel to around 41 different destinations across the UK making it one of the cheapest options to do some sightseeing this summer. It’s not that flexible though and mainly serves larger towns and cities so you may end up using other forms of transport to reach the Megabus stop.
National Express Coach
The National Express Coach website has an area to find cheap fares and offers discounts if you book in advance. They travel to over a 1,000 different destinations in the UK and also go across Europe and Ireland. National Express Coaches are a good option if you’re heading to one of the larger tourist attractions or a special event like Alton Towers or Wembley.
Travelling by train is possibly the fastest and easiest way to get around with lots of connections but can also be the most expensive. Our tip is to plan your journey at least a week in advance and book your train trip. Ticket prices should be cheaper but you have little flexibility over the time you travel. Look out for family travel cards for groups or tickets that also include discounted entry into attractions so check your local train operators site and see what offers you can pick up.
